Thanks to @richservo @JeruDamaja @frankreiff @applebaumian for helping me talk through this. Rather than being worried about the Mac Studio, I've decided to move ahead with plans for a new separate monitor and wait and see what Apple does with desktops. In the interim, I'll just use the MacBook Pro, the work laptop, and the Linux Desktop with the new monitor. In favor of ergonomics, I may not purchase another Mac desktop after all.
